Cornell University - Boyce Thompson Resource Center

The Resource Room was an important addition to the Boyce Thompson Institute.  The existing library was renovtaed to house not only the most current books and journals but also a Development Officer, Education Outreach Coordinator and Computer/IT Specialist.  In addtion, public computers, a reading area as well as a graphics and printing room were added for student use.  Since we were designing this space for a Plant Research Institute, we used a very "earthy" color palette resulting in space that feels very warm and welcoming while maintaining compatibility with its contemporary surroundings.

Cornell University - Boyce Thompson Auditorium

The Auditorium at the Boyce Thompson Institute at Cornell University is heavily used and therefore presented a very small window of time to rennovate.  All of the seats needed to be removed an re-upholstered.  New paint and carpeting were installed as well as new auditorium lighting and decorative lighting.  The podium was replaced with one that could accommodate lighting controls and video projection controls.  Custom millwork was disigned for the projection room.

University of Rochester - Clinical Translational Science Building

The University of Rochester selected Vargas Associates to assist them with the space planning of their faculty offices for the new Clinical and Translational Science Building.  Vargas was responsible for inventorying and assessing the condition of all existing office furniture for allocation in the new building.  Furniture layouts were prepared for ten departments utilizing the inventory of over 7,000 furniture items.  Our Project Manager and Interior Designers met with each end user and Department Head to review their office layout.  The re-use of exising furniture in good condition providied a large cost savings to the University.
